Math Binders:
Be sure to frequently check your child's math binder. All the resources necessary for the completion of homework are housed within this binder. In addition, all terminology needed to be successful in math class are also included in the binder. Your child has been asked to keep their binders organized. This means that all papers should be punched and kept in the proper section (each section has its own cover sheet) within the binder. This binder is invaluable for studying and math work completion.
A Word About Math Box Quizzes
As you are probably aware, Math Boxes occur after every lesson in each unit. They require the students to apply skills that have been explicitly taught, as well as those, that have been previously introduced, but will be expanded upon in future lessons.
Because of the importance of these spiraling concepts, your child will complete a Math Box Quiz at the end of each unit. For these quizzes, the students simply copy their work/answers from a select number of Math Boxes
that have been completed independently throughout a unit. Only Math Boxes that include concepts which students are expected to have mastered are placed on the quiz. An example might include place value of whole numbers or addition of decimals. This serves as a snapshot into your child's retention and application of key concepts.
You will be receiving Math Box Quizzes to sign in your child's test folder.
