With an enrollment of 2,400 students, the Greensburg Salem School District is located 35 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in the City of Greensburg, Westmoreland County. The district covers an area of 51 square miles that include urban, suburban and rural populations. Students live in the City of Greensburg, Salem Township and the boroughs of South Greensburg and Southwest Greensburg for a total population of 25,426 residents (based on 2020 Census Data). The City of Greensburg is the County Seat serving as the business, industrial, cultural, and political center of Westmoreland County. The school district strives to maintain partnerships with area businesses and organizations in order to enrich the education of our students and enhance the lives of local residents.

The Greensburg Salem school board, staff, and community work together to provide a high quality education extending beyond the walls of the classroom, adopting a simple, yet powerful slogan, Children First - Engagement Always.

Children First means we will strive to put our children, their needs, future and well-being first in our planning, decisions, and actions. 

Engagement Always means we will strive to create learning environments in the classroom, events, and extracurricular activities that allow children to be agents and owners of their learning. It calls for dedicated stakeholders focused on rebuilding our connections within our schools and communities.

We will follow the Greensburg Salem Pathway to Success (GPS) to move toward this goal of all children developing the knowledge, skills, insights, and understandings necessary to serve their community as citizens of high character, life-long scholars, and leaders.
