Welcome to the Greensburg Salem School District food service department, managed by The Nutrition Group. The department's goal is to provide a variety of appetizing and nutritious balanced meals according to the guidelines established by the United States Department of Agriculture and the Pennsylvania Department of Education. The guidelines mandate that no more than 30% of calories can come from fat and less than 10% from saturated fat. Meals must provide 1/3 of the Recommended Dietary Allowance of protein, vitamins A and C, and iron and calcium.

Breakfast and lunch are offered to all enrolled students at no charge for the 2025-2026 school year.

School Meal Modifications for Children with Disabilities_2025

We are pleased to inform you that the Greensburg Salem School District will be implementing the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) in the 2025-2026 school year.  This program is available to schools and districts that are participating in the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs.

All enrolled students at Greensburg Salem School District are eligible to receive a nutritional breakfast and lunch each school day at no charge to your household.

No further action is required of you.  Your child(ren) will be able to participate in these meal programs without paying a fee or submitting an application.

Schools participating in a federal school meal program (National School Lunch Program, School Breakfast Program, Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Program, Special Milk Program, and Afterschool Snack Program) are required to make reasonable accommodations for children who are unable to eat the school meal because of a disability that restricts the diet. Furthermore, we strive to provide breakfast and lunch in a clean, safe, friendly and caring environment.  Our knowledgeable cafeteria staff is eager to meet the needs of the students!

The Greensburg Salem School District believes that proper nutrition and wellness are key components for each student’s physical well-being, growth development and ability to learn.  A variety of healthy choices that students enjoy are available on every serving line every day.  The choices that are available feature a daily assortment of entrees, and are complemented with whole grains, fresh fruits and vegetables, and low fat dairy options.

Colorful and informative serving line signage provides important nutrition education information to assist students in choosing the right combination of foods for optimal nutrition benefit. We strive to help students develop healthy eating habits that will last a lifetime.
