3rd - 5th Grade Materials

 

 

Suggested Routine for Children in Grades Three, Four, and Five

 

Daily Routine

  • The elementary teachers suggest that each child will help clean up around the house; after eating or after playing!

 

English Language Arts (approx. 50-60 minutes)

 
Choose three each day for approximately 20 minutes each
  • Word study
  • Use words (you look up) in sentences when you talk to your family
  • Grammar
  • Practice writing sentences or play grammar games as suggested
  • Reading
  • Select 1 or 2 activities from the resource page
  • Read independently
  • Read to a pet or grandparent
  • Visit PA Power Library
  • Writing
  • Keep a journal or write a letter to your teacher or a friend
  • Write a story about a family member, pet, or yourself
 

 

Math (approx. 50-60 minutes)

  • Practice fluency (Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division)
  • Use fractions throughout the day
  • Calculate volume and area of various shapes
  • Design surveys to collect data to create charts and graphs
  • Use a ruler or measuring tape to practice units of length, width, and height
  • Use measuring cups to practice units of volume and convert to metric units

 

Science (approx. 30 minutes)

 

Social Studies (approx. 30 minutes)

 

Art, Library, Music, Physical Education, and STEAM (throughout each day)

 

Most importantly, do not forget about creativity!
