Title I Programs
Title I is a federally funded program that supports students in reading and mathematics to reach their grade level benchmarks.  Title I programs encourage parents to partner with the school to see that students achieve success.   
District Wide Policy on Parental Involvement
Greensburg Salem School District will operate all Title I programs, activities, and procedures for the involvement of parents consistent with section 1118 of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA).
Greensburg Salem School District will honor the following statutory definition of parental involvement:
Parental involvement means the participation of parents in regular two-way, and meaningful communication involving student academic learning and other school activities, including ensuring-
  • that parents play an integral role in assisting their child's learning;
  • that parents are encouraged to be actively involved in their child's education at the school;
  • that parents are full partners in their child's education and are included, as appropriate, in decision-making and on advisory committees to assist in the education of their child;
  • the carrying out of other activities, such as those described in section 1118 of the ESEA

Greensburg Salem School District will provide full opportunities for the participation of parents with limited English proficiency, parents with disabilities, and parents of migratory children in an understandable and uniform format, including alternative formats upon request, and to the extent practicable, in a language parents can understand.

Greensburg Salem School District will submit parent comments to the state Department of Education if the LEA plan for Title I is not satisfactory to any participating parents.

Greensburg Salem School District parents will be involved in decisions regarding the funds reserved for Parental Involvement.

Greensburg Salem School District elementary schools will develop and implement a school-parent compact and Parental Involvement plan.
