Greensburg Salem School District will host the annual Back to School Bash on Friday, August 16 at Offutt Field from 5:00-7:00 pm to kick off the 2024-2025 school year! This FREE family-friendly event is open to the community and will include music, entertainment, food trucks/concessions, games, prizes, children’s activities, community resources, and more!  Wear your brown, white, and gold to show your Greensburg Salem pride!

The recognition of fall sports teams/activities will be on the field at 6:00 pm (to include Varsity, JV, MS, and Rec). Student activity organizations, as well as booster groups, will sell spirit wear and other items. Student Organizations taking part are Baseball Boosters, Junior Wrestling, FCCLA, Cub’s Den, Volleyball, Hockey Club, and Mini-THON. Mini-THON will be hosting their annual corn hold tournament (as a fundraiser).

All proceeds of the Mini-THON Cornhole Tournament at the Back to School Bash will go directly to our fundraising efforts. It is $20 to pre-register before the event and $25 to sign up on tournament day. The tournament will begin around 5 pm. This is a great chance for teachers, students, alumni, and community members to partner and have fun at the Back to School Bash. Those interested in playing can email gsminithon@gmail.com with your name and your partner's name. Payments can be made through Venmo (@Matthew_Boe) or cash when you get there! In addition to the cornhole tournament, there will also be a dunk tank where guests will have a chance to dunk Greensburg Salem teachers!

The Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department and the Rotary Club of Greensburg are graciously supplying hot dogs & water for everyone in attendance at the concession stand closest to the scoreboard. There will also be food concessions for sale (GS Marching Band Parents Association) and food truck options: Kona Ice (flavored ice), Millie’s Ice Cream (ice cream), Firehouse Subs (sandwiches, chips & drinks), Honeybee Bubble Tea (bubble tea), and Kill Devil Meals (low country cooking: fish, pork, black eye peas, collard greens and rice). A portion of the food truck sales also go to the Mini-THON fundraising efforts.

Community Organizations include 814, Adelphoi, American Red Cross, Balanced Beginnings, Brave Martial Arts, Clarvida, Communities in Schools, DMJ, ESS, Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, Greensburg Volunteer Fire Department, Inclusive Connections, Lions Club, Outdoor Odyssey, Ray of Hope, Regional Integrated Human Services, Rotary Club of Greensburg, Saint Vincent College Prevention Projects, Seton Hill University, Stage Right, SW PA, The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, the University of Pittsburgh Greensburg, Westmoreland County Community College, Westmoreland Transit, YMCA and YWCA.
